AHC21020 - Certificate II in Conservation and Ecosystem Management - Expressions of Interest
Ecoskills is excited to be offering delivery of this engaging course to high schools in the Frankston & Mornington Peninsula region.
Students will be taught by industry experts through a range of school and industry based conservation projects.
Starting with a Biodiversity Audit of the school grounds (links to Resource Smart Schools program), students will plan and implement a range of projects to improve school ground biodiversity. They will also work with a range of industry organisations, being exposed to the diversity of jobs and opportunities available in the conservation industry.
Working outdoors to restore our natural environment in bush regeneration, revegetation, park and habitat management provides the individual with a great deal of job satisfaction as well as the physical and mental health benefits that come with being nature.
Students will study a range of units in a project based format, including:
AHCWHS201 Participate in workplace health and safety processes
AHCWRK211 Participate in environmentally sustainable work practices
AHCPCM204 Recognise plants
AHCFAU202 Recognise fauna
AHCPMG201 Treat weeds
AHCCHM201 Apply chemicals under supervision
AHCECR203 Perform basic ecological restoration works
AHCECR202 Maintain wildlife habitat refuges
AHCSAW202 Recognise landforms and soil types
AHCNSY207 Undertake propagation activities
AHCNSY206 Care for nursery plants
AHCPGD201 Plant trees and shrubs
AHCMOM304 Operate machinery and equipment
AHCOCM202 Observe and report plants and animals
AHCLPW201 Operate a handheld GPS device
