By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

Use observation skills to recognise key plant features (leaves, flowers, stems, form)
Understand the difference between native and indigenous plants
Identify common indigenous plants using visual traits and habitat clues
Use iNaturalist to photograph, record and verify plant observations
Apply simple plant family recognition techniques
Record plant observations using a plant ID journal or phone
Build confidence in identifying plants in the field

Trainer Profile

Trav Jolly, Ecoskills, SEEDS Bushland Restoration & Conservation Collective

Trav has over six years’ experience working in ecological restoration and regeneration, and more than two years’ experience delivering industry-based training. Trav has worked as a Project Coordinator across a range of bushland restoration projects, supporting on-ground crews and contributing to site assessment and restoration planning as an AABR-accredited practitioner.

Trav holds a Diploma of Conservation and Land Management and a Certificate IV in Conservation and Land Management, with expertise in ecological restoration, plant identification and observation skills, indigenous plants, and weed management. Trav is committed to mentoring emerging practitioners and supporting learners to build confidence and practical skills for real-world conservation work.
